Access
How to access Omics Laboratories
Omics shared laboratory facilities and instruments are available to all university staff. Access to the equipment, including advanced molecular biology and imaging systems, can be arranged upon request, ensuring that faculty and researchers across the university benefit from these resources for their scientific projects. This collaborative approach supports a broad range of research activities and fosters interdisciplinary innovation.
How to request IDcard activation
Access to the OMICS+ spaces is permitted via UNICAM IDcard, which will be activated upon request by the user to the Director of the School of Bioscience and Veterinary Medicine. All requests should be addressed to omicslab@unicam.it. Requests by both graduated and undergraduated students must be undersigned by their supervisors
The IDcard is not transferable to third parties.
Omics+ lab use regulation
The users can access the OMICS+ equipment during the Bioscience Department’s opening hours. Any specific extensions must be requested from the SBMV director, detailing the reason and time frame for the exemption. The presence of a supervisor is mandatory.
Students and undergraduates may use the equipment ONLY IN THE PRESENCE of a professor/researcher.
The user must book the use of the equipment by contacting the reference technician, also checking availability in the online calendars (1, 2).
The use of the laboratories for demonstration classes is allowed. Requests must be sent well in advance to omicslab@unicam.it. Multiple concomitant users are strongly discouraged, small groups are recommended to prevent lab over-crowding (Unicam teaching staff is strongly encouraged to limit the number of individuals per group to 5).
All users undersign to use the equipment following the specific instructions for use and trying to limit the number of users per single instrument, in order not to hinder the simultaneous work of users on other instruments.
All users declare that they have received appropriate specific training for the use of the instrument. Otherwise, users must attend at least once the mini courses that will be organized every six months on the equipment.
Users undersign to fill in the instrument logbook at the end of each use.
Users undersign to contribute to the costs of ordinary maintenance (shared between users) and individually to cover any repair costs caused by their improper use.
Users undersign to leave the instrument clean at the end of use and to report to the reference technician any anomalies found during use, also noting them in the usage logbook. Users undersign not to contaminate the instrumentation.
Users who fail to comply with the above rules will have their IDcard deactivated for opening the OMICS+ doors.
